Dear Supporters.
Once again St Mark's Church in Bilton Rugby will be working to raise money for Christian Aid during Christian Aid Week 2024.
Although Christian Aid is always working tirelessly around the world supporting people and children of all nationalities and faiths in areas of crisis and desperate need, such as the earthquake stricken regions of Turkey and Syria, and the war torn areas of the Ukraine and Gaza, the focus for this year's Christian Aid Week campaign is the poverty and starvation in an area of Burundi in Africa.
In Burundi, malnourishment and poverty affect more than 70% of the population, putting them at the edge of survival. Coming back from the edge isn't easy when food can be scarce, disease prevalent, and jobs hard to come by.
If you have a home, the chances are that there's no electricity or running water, and it may not even survive the next storm.
Christian Aid is helping people like Aline to create and run successful businesses that lift them out of the poverty trap and enable them to support and feed themselves and their families.
We know that times are still financially difficult for many people but if you can, please make a donation and help someone to push back against poverty this Christian Aid Week.
Thank you
Penny Street
