I’m taking on 70K in May in memory of my grandmother, Maria José Oliveira Rosa, also known as Vó Zezé.
If my grandma were still alive today, she'd be impressed to learn more about Christian Aid's work in helping communities fight the climate crisis. She was a devout Christian in life and came from a small rural community in Brazil. Countries like Brazil, Guatemala and others in Central and South America are facing similar climatic challenges, where long and intense draughts are then followed by severe floods. These have devastated cities and rural communities, pushing people into poverty.
I’ll be covering 70 kilometres in a mixture of long walks and 5K runs, in solidarity with millions of people who have to walk long distances for clean water or to sell their produce, and who have their means of survival threatened by climate change.
Christian Aid are doing an amazing work supporting these communities. Any amount you donate to me will go towards helping these communities become more resilient.
I'm initially hoping to raise £98 as that's the age Vó Zezé would be turning this May if she were still alive.
