As sisters we are taking on Christian Aid's 70K in May challenge to help communities fight the climate crisis. This means we'll each be covering 70 kilometres, running and walking, in solidarity with millions of people who have to travel long distances on foot for clean water or to sell their produce.
This year’s Christian Aid Week is focusing on the charity's work in Guatemala, where the climate crisis is causing the seasons to intensify and shift erratically. As a result, farming communities have to battle devastating floods and intense heatwaves. Water sources are drying up and vital crops are failing, plunging farming families into hunger and poverty.
Farmers like Aurelia are battling extreme weather, but with Christian Aid’s support, they’re learning skills to protect their farms and provide for their families.
Aurelia has faced extreme heatwaves that have killed her crops, but through Christian Aid’s partner, Congcoop, she’s learning to grow resilient crops, make fertiliser and conserve water. She’s sharing this knowledge with others, helping her community build a sustainable future.
Your support can help fund this vital training. Just £20 could buy two pounds of climate-resilient seeds, diversifying a family’s crop and increasing their resilience against the effects of the climate crisis.
Thank you for your support.
